Letter From the President
John Trask
Welcome to the TBF of Maine web site. As many of you know TBF has long been the backbone of bass fishing anglers throughout the country and continues to grow each year locally, nationally, and around the world. Partnerships have been made to ensure our great sport continues to grow. A great partnership with FLW Outdoors gives worldwide coverage to our anglers. Many of the pros you watch on television came from state chapters just like TBF of Maine. In fact we have some anglers right here in Maine that have been televised nationally for their accomplishments.
Maine is a small state in comparison to many of our other chapters but we continue to be in the forefront when it comes to leadership around the country. We have anglers in our chapter that have qualified to fish national tournaments and junior youth anglers that have also emerged as leaders and in fact won national recognition as up and coming fishermen. Our future looks bright and we will continue to be among the leaders in our country for years to come.
TBF of Maine is not all about fishing. We recognize that Conservation efforts need to be made to ensure this sport is sustained for future generations to come. That is why our conservation program has worked hard to rebuild boat ramps, stabilize shoreline erosion, help eradicate invasive plants such as milfoil, and promote access to lakes, ponds, and streams around Maine. We will continue to make conservation a top priority. If you know of any way we can help you or your organization preserve Maine’s land and waters for our future generations, please do not hesitate to contact a TBF staff member from one of the links on this web site. We welcome the opportunity to help better our great state.
TBF of Maine also promotes youth programs around the state. Many of our local chapters hold youth tournaments and classes to teach kids about the importance of fishing and conservation in Maine. National Guard has partnered up with TBF of Maine to help run and organize our state youth qualifiers. We have sent junior anglers on to fish nationally with the pros you see on television. For these kids it is the thrill of a lifetime to compete in the same boat as the pros.
We recognize the importance of keeping these programs going. TBF of Maine is always looking for partners to help ensure we remain leaders in these fields. If you know of any organizations that may want to contribute towards these goals please let us know. Thank you again for visiting TBF of Maine web site. I encourage you to look around and contact myself, or any of our officers if you have questions or want to know more about joining our organization.
